Calibration Inquiries

The laboratory invites inquiries for the calibration of temperature measuring instruments.

The following information outlines the costs for routine calibrations of standard instruments such as digital thermometers
and liquid in glass thermometers. The calibration accuracy would be our best measurement capability, as specified in the
Scope of Accreditation
. The accuracy would be suitable for many types of reference thermometer.

(i) $130 for the IANZ endorsed certificate and overhead cost. This includes all work required by IANZ to meet the
scope of accreditation.
(ii) $65 for each calibration point from -40°C to 200°C.
(iii) $110 for each calibration point above 200°C and up to 1050°C.

NOTES

1 The above costs do not include GST. Freight charges are in addition to the above costs. Freight is at cost.
2 If you are unsure at which temperatures to have an instrument calibrated, please refer to General Information
or contact us for advice.
3 Thermocal Laboratory is primarily a calibration laboratory, and generally does not carry out repair work.
Instruments sent to the laboratory for calibration should be in good working order. If an instrument required
repair, this would normally be carried out by an outside organisation.
4 Instruments must be suitably packaged. Please refer to General Information, which contains requirements
and recommendations on packaging of instruments.
5 The normal turnaround time from the receipt of an instrument is less than ten working days.
6 Please ask for a quote if you have more than one thermometer that requires calibration. The cost per
thermometer becomes less if more than one thermometer is calibrated at the same time.

SPECIAL PRICE

A common reference thermometer used in many laboratories is a mercury-in-glass thermometer, -5°C to 105°C, total
immersion, divided to 0.1°C increments. The cost to calibrate this type of thermometer at 10°C increments from -10°C
to 100°C is $635 plus GST. The cost includes the issue of a
n IANZ endorsed calibration certificate.

CALIBRATION OF WORKING THERMOMETERS

The laboratory can calibrate some types of digital thermometers to an accuracy less than its best measurement
capability, at a lower cost. Please refer to Working Thermometers
