calibration laboratory

Scope of Accreditation

The laboratory is able to calibrate most types of temperature measuring instruments. The IANZ
Schedule to the Certificate of Accreditation for Thermocal Laboratory Ltd is stated below. The Schedule
is also available on the IANZ web site.

All measurement uncertainties are based on a confidence interval of at least 95%. Unless stated
elsewhere in this schedule, calibrations are performed at the premises of the accredited laboratory.
Normal laboratory calibration temperature 22°C ± 2°C.

5.61 TEMPERATURE MEASURING INSTRUMENTS
(a) Rare metal hermocouples
(b) Base metal thermocouples (direct reading or by measurement of voltage)
(c) Platinum (and other metallic) resistance thermometers
(e) Thermistors (and other semiconductor) thermometers
(f) Liquid-in-glass thermometers
(g) Clinical thermometers
(k) Vapour pressure thermometers
(l) Filled metal systems
(m) Bimetallic systems
(o) Indicators, recorders, controllers
(p) Other direct reading temperature measuring systems

The above calibrations performed in the laboratory using reference thermometers and stirred baths
or furnaces, or standard cells.

Calibration temperature range Least uncertainty of calibration
-40°C to 18°C ± 0.03°C
Ice point ± 0.003°C
18°C to 200°C ± 0.02°C
200°C to 400°C ± 0.2°C
400°C to 1050°C ± 2.0°C

5.63 TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED ENCLOSURES
(c) Incubators
(d) Refrigerators and freezers
(e) Conditioning rooms and cabinets

Field calibration of temperature sensors in the above enclosures, to a least uncertainty of ± 0.1°C.
